Hello, Fall! I’ve missed you dearly. I have been dreaming of sweaters, infinity scarves, college football and pumpkins since the beginning of August. Truth be told, fall will be here and gone before we know it. That’s why I sat down to make my fall bucket list, filled with some activities and adventures that I can’t wait to cross off. I thought I would share a few of those with you all, along with an exhaustively comprehensive Fall Bucket List as well (found at the end of this post).
If you just so happen to be inspired by my list and would like to make your own, I’ve designed a Fall Bucket List printable, which you can download below. I hope you all enjoy your fall as much as I plan to enjoy mine… every pumpkin-spiced moment of it!
Cheers.
My Fall Bucket List
Tailgate
M-I-Z! Honestly, it’s not really fall for me if I’m not cheering on my Missouri Tigers. Even if you aren’t a big football fan, you can at least get behind some spirited tailgating. Drinking, yummy finger foods, games… what’s not to love? If you can’t actually plan a trip back to your alma mater, just have a watch party instead. All the joys of tailgating but in a climate-controlled space, sans porta-potties, sounds pretty great to me.
Enjoy The Fall Foliage
Anything that involves getting outside to enjoy the cooler temps and the pretty fall leaves has a permanent place on my fall bucket list each year. Whether it’s exploring a park I’ve never been to before, or just getting in the car and taking a drive, it’s always an adventure.
Watch All the Halloween Movies

Did you even “Halloween” if you didn’t watch Halloween movies? I have a bunch of movies that I watch every year. Yes, Freeform plays a bunch of these, but there are plenty that I have to go down deep in the depths of the Internet to find.
My list includes:
- Hocus Pocus (duh)
- The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (the 1949 Disney version narrated by Bing Crosby)
- Halloweentown
- Disney’s Halloween Treat (the Halloween special from 1982 – it’s been a tradition since I was a kid!)
- Young Frankenstein with Gene Wilder (PS this is one of the reasons my blog is called AbbeyNormal)
- Abbott & Costello Meet the Monsters collection (a tribute to my dad – we watched ALL of these movies)
- House on Haunted Hill (the 1949 version. Another tribute to my dad, and actually very suspenseful for being such an old movie)
- The Addams Family (they’re creepy & they’re kooky)
Some other good ones for my 90s babies:
- My Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire
- Phantom of the Megaplex
- Twitches
- The Black Cauldron
- Tower of Terror with Kirsten Dunst
- Under Wraps
- Don’t Look Under the Bed
- The Haunted Mansion with Eddie Murphy
- The Nightmare Before Christmas (yes, it’s a Halloween movie, not a Christmas movie)
- Casper Meets Wendy with Hilary Duff
- Ghostbusters
- Beetlejuice
- Matilda
Bring on the candy corn and hot cocoa… I’m ready for a movie night now!
Bake Something Sweet

Every year, I try to perfect some sort of Fall recipe. Two years ago I made pumpkin cookies that turned out more like pumpkin muffies. Then, last year I made this gluten-free pumpkin bread recipe. This year, I’m doing a simple favorite: chocolate chip cookies. I am HOOKED on this chocolate chip cookie recipe from The Baking ChocolaTess. I’m still working on making it my own, but for now, I’ve subbed out the chocolate chips for crushed up milk chocolate Hershey’s bars and it is a GAME CHANGER.
Buy All of the Pumpkins
Every single one. Personally, I prefer going to a pumpkin patch where you can pick your own, instead of just going to the store because: 1. You get to enjoy the outdoors in an environment that will really give you all the fall vibes and 2. You have SO many more options when it comes to size and color, and 3. You’re supporting your local farmers.
I’ll usually buy several pumpkins just for decorating, then a pumpkin to carve and then usually a pumpkin and squash to eat/bake with!
